X session auto started in boot sequence

I have an HP rx2600 machine running HP-UX 11i v2.0. I have configured in EFI the VGA display as console output.
Then, I have reboot the machine. when the boot sequence finishes, the machine doesn't auto start X manager and remains in console mode.
I've modified the init mode in "inittab" file to init4, but I get the same problem. I tried to launch startx, but the GUI that shows up is similar to xdm and not cde.
what is the right configuration to make, to pass this problem and get cde auto started in the boot sequence?

Re: X session auto started in boot sequence

1. The local X server is not supported on the VGA display on rx2600.

2. If you want to log into CDE, you must use remote X-server and querying by XDMCP. Be sure, that on rx2600 process dtlogin is running.

Hi,

Make sure you have DESKTOP=CDE in /etc/rc.config.d/desktop file.

Hi collegue, ;-)

Auto start xhost + (check /sbin/init.d directory) and set the DISPLAY=":0.0"
Each and every day is a good day to learn.

Re: X session auto started in boot sequence

I again,

I have checked the file /etc/rc.config.d/desktop, and it already had DESKTOP=CDE defined.
I also tried what antunes had sugested with no results.

Now, I would like to try something first.
I want to configure the network, but I don't no how to do it without the CDE graphic interface. In Tru64, there is "setup" command for this purpose. Is there something similar in HP-UX?
thank you for your answers.

Re: X session auto started in boot sequence

Hi,

to configure network in HP-UX, you can use the script:

/etc/set_parms hostname

/etc/set_parms ip_address

/etc/set_parms addl_netwrk
