What To Check When Sys Crashes
I have a little D370 running Hp v11.
For some reason the beast decided to crash yesterday. Only thing I could do was ctrl B from the terminal and RS.
My question is, when something like this happens what are things you wonderful people check?
I checked syslogs, rc.logs, messages, crash logs. Unfortunately I have not been able to find an answer to why the system crashed and I have management asking why.
Thanking anyone for any info...

Re: What To Check When Sys Crashes
"We should be running OpenVMS, on the rare occasions when it does crash, an HP specialist will spend the time to crawl through the crash dump file and error log. You├в ll generally get a polite note to install a patch or two after a few hours. Infrequently, the issue will automatically be escalated to VMS Engineering and a patch or work around will be provided in a matter of days.├в
Best of luck,
Andy
