8100cdrw and XP

No drivers, the install cd won't work (XP does not detect my cdrom, worked fine before upgrade)... any ideas on when HP will release drivers?

Yeah, it says my drive is compatible with XP.... but the XP IDE driver(s) still do not detect it. I have all the software, I've tried updated IDE drivers, I've looked everywhere for an XP driver for the 8100.... no help anywhere. And I won't list the 12 emails I've sent to HP, and their replies which didn't help, or even have anything to do with my problem.

HP support doesn't help at all... no actual IT people I guess.

XP does not detect cdrw, it works fine in 98.

repeat... XP does not detect it... that means it is not in the device manager, it is not conflicting with anything, my ide cables and drivers are fine.
