dvd/cdrw drive problems on new laptop

Have the same problem, got the lap 6 months ago, but in early desember this problem began. I have a "qsi dvd/cdrw sbw-081"cdrw-writer and tried just about anything, uninstalled and installed both recordnow and the writer-driver several times. tried lots of recordnow drivers, windows xp supports the writer and software and basicly i??ve tried everything exept formattng the lap, which is probably the next step. Hope th see some resaults

You should ask at this site:

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/FamilyHome/1,,407,00.html

from: http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/Home/1,,2,00.html

because this site is more for technical servers.

To me it sounds like a hardware failure. You should be able to reclaim a new part on warranty.

Good luck,

Re: dvd/cdrw drive problems on new laptop

Hey, I also have a QSI DVD/CDRW SBW-081 in a Medion laptop. It will still play CDs and DVDs, but will not longer burn playable CDs. Would any of you know where I could locate a new QSI DVD/CDRW SBW-081 that would fit my medion laptop?
