HP CDW 8200 with record now ejects blank cds

Specs
- external HP CDW+ 8200f (USB)
- IBM thinkpad a21e
- Win 2k
- HP Record Now 3.5

I can make data disks with Adaptec wizard, no worries. But i am limited to 650meg, even on 700meg disks.

So i installed most recent RecordNow, but it ejects my blank CD's. it won't recognise them even tho they are good (same machine, same boot, using adaptec)

Also, i havn't been able to use nero or real jukebox etc, because they won't detect my cd writer, even from a cold boot.

Please solve any of the above problems. I just want to record ISO images, music disks and access all 700 megs of data cds.

What Adaptec software are you running? I have used Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 and it can handle 700MB discs. Adaptec spun off the software division and the new name is Roxio.

Hi Reuben, had the same problem using Nero but found this post on the board which fixed it right up:

The link to the file in question is broken however, but I found the same file at the following link:

I just grabbed the file, replaced the WINASPI32.DLL that resides in the Nero directory with this one, and voila, burner was detected.

On a side note, I did find a new problem. My CD would burn to 100% and then fail with a "Scsi Target Error".... Grr.

You might think about a quick Adaptec/Roxio upgrade. You can upgrade from 3.0 or later to 3.5C at this page:

It???s free and supports newer drives. Every version that Roxio brings out is usually better then the previous.
