HP8230e cd-writer installation on WinXP Pro

HP8230e cd-writer installation on WinXP Pro

Can anyone help how to install this writer so WinXP recognises the drive.
Have used a driver I have downloaded cd_usb.exe which initially been recognised showing drive in My Computer, but after turning off computer and reboot a dreaded blue screen appeared telling that hardware or software not installed properly.
I rebooted and the cd-writer is not there any longer, also used Add Hardware in the Control Panel but is not there.
I am getting very frustated any help is much appreciated.
