Windows 2000 crashes

i have a hp cd writer dvd combo (9900ci) which runs on a windows 2000 operating systems. The OS reboots by itself while the DVD is playing and sometimes even when playing a game CD on that drive. Is there a way to fix it ?

Hello,

Check out the Microsoft support site at support.microsoft.com . Search the Knowledge base.

Re: Windows 2000 crashes

I'd tend to blame the hw/drivers...

Granted the OS should exit gracefully, but it is microsoft.

If it was working at one point (and you changed nothing) you might consider it a h/w failure which includes dirty cds/cabling..

You might consider downloading the latest drivers for the DVD and your video card too if you haven't already done so.

The better place to ask would be on the microsoft forum..

Good luck!
