after change of system board - no ILO link any more
we had a bad system board, so the system board was changed. After that the memory that made problems before was detected and everything seemed fine.
The technician that changed the board also changed the serial number in the ROM setup to the value that the old board/server had before.
We then tried to setup the ILO ad changed the network settings etc. But we don't even get a network link any more, no blinking LED, nothing. Resetting the ILO to defaults didn't change that. The cable works in other NICs, so it's not a cable or switch problem. The switch is configured for autoneg, but we also tested fixed settings on both ends.
Any idea what this could be? I don't want to believe that the new board came with a broken ILO. This would mean that it would take an other 2 days before we could get the server running.

Re: after change of system board - no ILO link any more
are you on local lan try with laptop and cable directly attatched to ilo with cross over cable
can you ping ilo

update firmware with firmware maint cd version 8.6

Clearing the system configuration
To clear the system configuration:
1. Power down the server
2. Remove the server
3. Remove the access panellook at the diagram on it it will show the position of the maintenace switch( it clears Nv ram)
4. Change position 6 of the system maintenance switch to on.
5. Install the access panel
6. and power up the server
7. Wait for the POST message that prompts you to change the switch setting:

I've not tried a direct connection, but several other switch ports. The cable was working with the old system board before.
> can you ping ilo
no link, no ping. No MAC addess on the switch port. The switch shows the port as down.

Which Firmware? The ILO FW is already 1.94. It's a brand new board. I started an update from the maintainance CD from 08-2009 right after the board was changed. Only 2 drivers where updated, the NIC driver and a second one I've forgotten.

Oh, well I guess I let the technician do this...

Re: after change of system board - no ILO link any more
The problem is that we won't get a new replacement board until friday because of our NBD contract. Which is sad, because I would expect to get a working replacement board right away, because it's HPs fault that the first board was bad.

Re: after change of system board - no ILO link any more
We first had some problems to get HP to deliver a new replacement board, because DL380G4 boards werde not available in europe. At least not for customers with NBD contract. After all we got the board...
