Array changing the size of the drives - please help

Hi,

We have a HP DL380 server which has Raid 5 configured with 6 hard drives. The array size is a bit small so we have purchased large size hard drives.

I want to replace the old drives (146GB) with the new drives (450GB).

Do I need to delete the old array, replace the new drives and then create an array  OR

can I just remove the old drives (without deleting the array), replace the new drives and then create an array.

Thanks so much.

You can replace one drive at the time and let it rebuild one at the time.

If you have RAID 6, then you should have a cache and battery installed already. So you need to Expand and Extender the array. Once you have replaced all the drives, you´ll see an unallocated space on the ACU, select the array and then "expand", select all the volume available, once it is expanded, select the logical drive and then "extend".

On windows disk manager you´ll see an unallocated space, so you´ll have to extend the parttition or create a new partition with that additional space.
