DAT 20/40 GB jumper settings for compression
Can anyone point me to an online doc which describes how to check the jumper settings for a 20/40 GB DAT tape drive internal to a Proliant 350 server ?
I want to make sure that hardware compression is enabled, because I'm only getting 20 GB to tape and it's compressible data, so sounds like compression isn't enabled.
Thanks.

Re: DAT 20/40 GB jumper settings for compression
David,
Have you tried running LTT and running the compression test? LTT runs in NT/2000 and is available here:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNum=C5686A&prodName=hp+surestore+dat40i+internal&locale=en_US&taskId=135&prodSeriesId=63890&prodTypeId=12169
Here are the switch settings:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=lpg51068&locale=en_US&taskId=110&prodSeriesId=63890&prodTypeId=12169
hth,
Greg

David, just wondering what kind of throughput your getting on your backups. Check for soft and hard write errors to the tape.

Re: DAT 20/40 GB jumper settings for compression
David,
The switch settings I pointed out in my earlier post are for Unix only and I would suspect you are not running Unix. The settings should be default for PC/PC server configs:
See page 11: http://h200005.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/lpg28863/lpg28863.pdf
I would recommend calling into the HP helpdesk if you are at this configuration. Are you in the US?
Ciao,
Greg
