Hello,
I've not run onboard storage using ESX for quite some time now but I have a small installation with a DL320e Gen8 v2. I got the performance edition which includes the P222 SAS/SATA RAID Controller. It's been commisioned this week and firmware and BIOS seems up to date.
BIOS: P80, iLO:1.32
I am using ESX 5.5a Vanilla. I have installed the following bundles but I cannot get the Storage Information view to be populated when ESX is booted up. I assume some process on ESX should interrogate the P222 and pass this to iLO:
1. hpsa-5.5.0-1287942.zip (1st installed then rebooted)
2. hp-HPUtil-esxi5.5-bundle-1.5-27.zip (installed in 2nd lot)
3. hp-esxi5.5uX-bundle-1.5-27.zip (installed in 2nd lot)
I am getting the NIC info populating so I think the bundle is working on that front. In vSphere client for the server I have the full infromation on the P222 for battery, array, drives, LUN but in iLO sysinfo it says a smart array needs to be fitted.
I also have an information icon on the iLO Diagnositcs screen for the self-test - is this a problem or is just a verions call back?
iLO Self-Test Results
Everything else is working fine. Just waiting on the iLO advanced license. I fell into the trap of installing the trial license before I set the clock :-( though it's Christmas post delays so may be some time.
If I missed anything to help then please let me know but I think I am missing a bundle somewhere.
Thanks in advance,
Al

SolutionAll my issues were solved by using the HP Version of ESX and not Vanilla.

Thanks,
