HP P800 raid card and 3TB discs - Only see 2199GB?

Hi!

I have a HP P800 raid cad in my server and I am trying to use 6 Seagate 3TB discs.

But when I try to setup the Raid 5 each disc only have 2199GB in storage.

In totally I only get about 10TB in storage and I should get more.

If I plug the discs into the motherboard the appear as they should with about 2800GB each.

Does not the P800 accept larger discs or what may be the problem?

I am seeing the same thing with a P800 in a DL320s storage server using HP 628059-B21 3 TB SATA drives.  I was running firmware 7.24.  I had a vendor do a test for me as well with a P800 in a DL380 G6 attached to a MSA60 full of these drives and it didn't see the full capacity.  A P812 was able to see the full capacity.

After version 5.x the firmware could address LOGICAL drives above 2.2 TB but it looks like it can't handle PHYSICAL drives above 2 TB.  I'm assuming the P400 suffers the same restrictions on the physical drives.

I had thought that maybe the DL320s backplane or firmware might have been a factor, but having it tested in another machine and a P812 working fine kind of points the finger at the P800.

I know this is far too late to be of any help to you but in case any future internet searchers have the same issue, here ya go.  This is all old EoL stuff so I don't see anything changing.

This is also supported with this thread, too:

We just put the P812 in the DL320s and it works.

The dl320s is too slow with the P800/P812 to be usable with esxi 5.1.
