ML350 G6 SAS storage upgrade
Good evening,
I have a Proliant ML350 G6 Server, configured with one RAID 1 formed by two 146Gb SAS disk.
Now, I need upgrade the storage capacity, without migrate or reinstall the OS.
It's possible to install another RAID 1 independient from the installed?
It's possible to install two disk more with the same specs, and upgrade to RAID 10 without data loss?
What solves I have for this model?
Thanks in advance,
Kind regards.

Re: ML350 G6 SAS storage upgrade
Which type of raid controller do you have in this machine? Is it a smart array P410i ?
Which type of disks are those you have - LFF or SFF models?
If you have a working cache and BBU attached to the controller you can do an online expansion of your raid.
You could also create a new raidset and clone your existing installation to the new raid with some third-party backup software.
Or if you only need a little more space you could replace the 146GB drives with 300GB or 600GB drives and exchange them one-by-one letting the raid controller rebuild the raid1 twice. You can then expand the array to the new size.
Of course you will always have to reconfigure your OS to make it recognize the new drive size
