ML570 G5 2 x P400 lock up issue
I have a fairly new server (couple of months old) which is running Server 2008 x64 and Exchange 2007.
This server has 2x P400 controller cards with the following configuration
P400 - Slot 1 -
2 x 146Gb RAID 1
P400 - Slot 5 -
2 x 410Gb RAID 5 (4 x 146Gb SAS disks in each)
We have a problem where if you do any disk intensive operation on the either of the arrays on the controller in Slot 5 (i.e daily exchange scheduled maintenance) the card locks up and takes both RAID 5 arrays offline.
In the event viewer (system), these are the following messages before and during the lock up.
1. Reset of device, \Device\RaidPort1, was issued
12 seconds later
2. The driver deteced a controller error on \Device\RaidPort1
34 mins later
3. An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\DR3 during a paging operation, there are 7 of these every second until I reboot the server. The server will not fully reboot itself, once it has stopped all the windows services and goes to a blank screen, I have to do a hard power off.
When the server is doing the POST checks, and initialising the controller cards, I get a message about the card in slot 5 saying the following
A controller event occurred prior to the power-up. Previous lockup code = 0X9B.
Both controller cards are on firmware version 5.22
The disks are all on firmware version HPDC and the disks are model number HP DG146BB976
If I move the contents of one of the RAID arrays to an array on the other controller, we do not see this lock up at all.
HELP!
Cheers, Adam

Re: ML570 G5 2 x P400 lock up issue
There are lots of threads about P400/410 locking up under heavy load from a quick Google.
