Proliant 5500 - Smart Start Windows Server 2003

Folks,
Trying to rebuild a ProL5500 server and would like to load Win3k Server.

Confused as how to proceed in terms of Smart StartCD, RomPaqs, etc.
The current version of the Smart Start only goes up to Win2k server.
Should I use that and then upgrade the server to 3k then apply the RomPaq?

Thanks!!!!

Re: Proliant 5500 - Smart Start Windows Server 2003

Hi Mitch,

if you select the Manual Installation from SmartStart you should be able to install Win2k3. Select Windows 2000 from the OS selection list, but it won't ask to verify any cds. Then it will go through the necessary pre-installation tasks (configuring array, installing System Partition, etc.). You will then be asked to insert your OS CD and reboot. Then let the server boot from the Windows 2003 CD, install as normal, and when it's finished, apply the latest support pack.

I would apply the Rompaq before starting the OS install, but you can leave it until afterward, too.

Regards,
Stephen
