Hello,
I set up RAID 5 (5 disks) with smart array and controller P 408 ia.
I have vmware installed on it and some VM on it (windows server).
I bought new SSds and I need to expand raid (i'm going to expand storage). I am going to add 3 ssds to the existing array
Is that safe? Or I will lose my existing data ?
thanks a lot

Re: Expand smart array
Yes, you can safely expand your RAID 5 array by adding new SSDs to it. The process of expanding the array does not involve any data loss. However, it's important to ensure that you follow the correct procedure for expanding the array. Also, it's always a good practice to back up your data before making any changes to your storage configuration.
this comprehensive guide covers config changes: https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/api/document/dp00002639en_us

SolutionGreetings!
For expansion, follow the rules mentioned on the below web-link:
Please take a valid data back up before making any changes to the storage sub-system.
