HP DPX5 not spanning tapes on D2D110

I have an issue where the backup status is "running" but fails to complete.  If I browse to the D2D110 web interface I see the cartridge in the mailslot is at 198 or 199GB of capacity (200GB).  It doesn't seem to span a second virtual tape.

 

Windows Server 2008 r2, HP Data Protector Express 5 (10 server license), HP D2D110 unit.
