MSL2024 - upgraded drive to LTO8 need firmware
Hi all - we have an MSL2024 which is out of contract. We have bought a brand new LTO8 drive to go in it, but need to upgrade the firware on the drive to get it working properly, but becuase the MSL is out of contract i dont seem to be able to get it.
Can anyone help me out please?

Hi Peter,
the drive inherits the library's warranty.
So you have to extend the maintenance of the library to get updates.
Which makes sense anyway, because a drive only comes with a 1-year warranty and an LTO-8 Drive is also very expensive.

yes so it would seem.... but having spent nearly ┬г3k on a drive upgrade (with a 1 yr warranty) you would expect to be able to get it working irrespective of the host equipment. the additional expenditure of bringing the library back into warranty adds another ┬г2k to the price tag. all seems very unreasonable to me.

If you purchased the drive from HPE or an authorized reseller call HPE support. The drive is under warrenty.
