U160 AIT into a U320 LTO Rack Enclosure?
We have a HP Rack Mount 3U Tape Drive Enclosure (with an Ultrium 960 tape drive in) (Q1595A). The drive is connected to one of our DL380 servers by a Single Channel Ultra320 SCSI Adapter (374654-B21) and a VHDCI to Wide SCSI Cable (341177-B21).
I have an old Compaq SDX-700C AIT tape drive which I want to add into the enclosure as a second tape drive if possible (connecting to a different DL380 server).
Is it technically possible for the AIT drive (with it's U160 LVD interface) to connect to the second U320 LVDS interface in the enclosure, and if so what additional parts would I need to not only make it connect to the internal ports on the enclosure but also to connect the enclosure to another DL380 server (I guess another U320 HBA card as the enclosure is U320).
Our reseller has advised we MAY be able to achieve this using the HP Ultra 320SCSI Cable Kit (DW063B).
Any help would be much appreciated, or alternatively another way of connecting an internal AIT U160 tape drive to a new DL380 server would be helpful.
Thank you in advance.
