Remote printing using HP 3500
In our remote office, we have just installed a HP color laser jet 3500, connected to a Windows XP with SP1. The port that is being used is the DOT port. This was how the drivers were installed.
We want to use the printer in a Remote desktop application printing from a terminal server (windows 2003). However when the user sends a print job, from the terminal server to the remote workstation, the remote workstation displays an error message, cannot redirect printing.
Is there something that has to be done on the server to make this work or are there any changes to be made at the remote desktop?
Thank you

Re: Remote printing using HP 3500
Hi Leonard
1. I am not familiar with any DOT port on Windows XP.
Can you go to the Printer Port list and state what the decription is for the DOT port?
2. ON the Windows 2003 Server side. Check the Environment tab on the user account properties and see if the follwng boxes are checked:
- Connect client printers at logon
- Default to main client printer
3. Try setting up the printer to print from the Windows 2003 Terminal server instead
