"LOGOUT" (not "logoff", though the difference might matter little, practically) might make sense if one is waiting at a DCL prompt, but that hardly covers all the possible cases, and I don't know what the result would be of feeding "LOGOUT" to any application which any Smarterm user might be running. Determining what the actual problem is, and then fixing it, would seem to be much more likely to work, and much less likely to cause unexpected problems in unexpected places.
