3PAR 8200 / M6710 Direct to Server / IP finding

Hi there, I have here a 3PAR Storage and would like to see the Status and reset/configure the Array later. It seems that the defaults IP not working and I would like to see the actual IP address . I want to plug the 3PAR directly to a DL390 g9 Server. Witch connector should I used ? then I could see with ILO the IP of the 3PAR or ?

Any other Tipps ?

Thanks for the quick answer....

But Is there a fastest way to find the IP Address ? Should I used the FC ports (Orange) to connect to Server ? thanks

Mgmt is the Management Port with the IP.

Only the Mgmt Port on one of the Controllers is online (It switches to Up or Down Controller).

Connect only one Mgmt Port and try using an IP Portscanner.

But to find (and set) the IP direct you can connect the MfG Port to Serial with the provided Adapter.

Use the grey Plug (-0055) and Serial 57600.

It provides a Menu to set the IP.

3PAR Console Menu 1621493-0 3.1.2.484

1. Out Of The Box Procedure
2. Re-enter network configuration
3. Update the CBIOS
4. Enable or disable CLI error injections
5. Perform a Node-to-Node rescue
6. Set up the system to wipe and rerun ootb
7. Cancel a wipe
8. Perform a deinstallation
9. Update the system for recently added hardware (admithw)
10. Check system health (checkhealth)
11. Exit

The 10GB Ports are only for iSCSI, no Management here.

Hi Cali, thanks for this great and clear answer ! I would try to check this .. but I tried already with MGMT port to Serial, then I got this failure (Photo) and can´t go further ! Is there´s a break command to get the Menu ?

Your Problem is, that the System is not fully booted.

It stops the booting process because the Node 0 (=Controller) is in the Wrong Slot.

You have Slots 0 and 1 (Green & Red colors).

Did you have an active Service Contract, then call Support!

They can go in WHACK and check/repair.

If you have no Support and nothing to lose, try to change Upper Controller to the lower Slot and boot with only one Controller.

Tipp: Search for "3par whack commands".

thanks again forr your professionnal answer, it works yet ! Now i can go further through the console port. but because I don´t got the original serial cable, the keyboard is not working. I´m going to buy an original cable and hope it will work completly then !

Hi Cali,

So I get the right Adpater yet, could connect throught console port (Mfg) but I can´t see the Menu you talk about. I just can break for the Grub Menu to select Grub Ver. then come login ask. I tried all I have seen (Setupusr/root Spvar 3parcust... but all incorrect.

How can i get the Menu you showed me ?
