topic Set online for Snapshot in Array Performance and Data Protection

There is an option when you check the checkbox on a snapshot to Set Online. This assigns it the next available LUN ID, but I can't see anywhere you can do something next. What is this option for? I can't find it in any of the documentation.

Thanks,

Tim

Tim,

Good talking to you today and addressing your above question. Please let me know if there is anything at all that you need.

As mentioned essentially the setting of a snapshot online will immediately give the system access to the snapshot as a volume. Keep in mind as you stated it will give the next available LUN ID to the volume when presenting to the host. This volume will have the same signature file as the parent volume so when attaching to the volume you will need to re-signature the volume in either ESX or Windows prior to gaining access to the data from the volume. This is automatically handled for you with the CLONE process which is the preferred method for recovery of information from your snapshots that are protecting your volume. Please let us know if there are any other questions that you may have and Thank You for being a Nimble Customer.

Thanks,

Todd
