Do Nimble keep the same A-Records and associated IP addresses? Our firewall requires a static IP address for the SSH URL and when ping'd returns a different IP.

Not sure what you mean here - are you trying to open up SSH to the management IP address on your array? If you set a static DNS A record up for that IP address it should match and not change for any reason.

There is no A record (DNS like) functionality in your Nimble array. To clarify your question, as you saying you entered an A record in your DNS for the management IP. (ie: nimble.foo.com in your DNS resolves to 10.10.10.10?) and when you ping nimble.foo.com it answers from another IP?

That error is saying the array can't resolve names via the DNS server you set. When I see that either the DNS servers are on another network and the array doesn't have a route via it's gateway, or the address for DNS is wrong. I usually also set a public DNS as my tertiary. (8.8.8.8 works).

From the CLI use nslookup to verify:

Nimble OS $ nslookup update.nimblestorage.com

Server: 10.10.10.6

Address 1: 10.10.10.6 dc01.moore.lan

Name: update.nimblestorage.com

Address 1: 173.201.45.173 ip-173-201-45-173.ip.secureserver.net

Nimble OS $ nslookup nsdiag.nimblestorage.com

Server: 10.10.10.6

Address 1: 10.10.10.6 dc01.moore.lan

Name: nsdiag.nimblestorage.com

Address 1: 198.54.168.99

Nimble OS $ nslookup hogan.nimblestorage.com

Server: 10.10.10.6

Address 1: 10.10.10.6 dc01.moore.lan

Name: hogan.nimblestorage.com

Address 1: 198.54.169.100

Nimble OS $

.

Hello all,

I believe there may have been an IP change recently, as a few of my customers have seen something similar. One received the following Autosupport message the other day:

Nimble Storage recently updated the DNS IP address for nsdiag.nimblestorage.com from 173.201.45.173 to 198.54.168.99. This IP address is for Heartbeats and Autosupports. If you have firewall rules that explicitly allow outbound https connections to 173.201.45.173 you must ADDITIONALLY allow 198.54.168.99.

NOTE: SW Updates (update.nimblestorage.com) still use 173.201.45.173 and should remain open for outbound HTTPS connections.
