topic Restore Exchange Mailbox Using Snapshot in Array Setup and Networking

Hi I'm just wondering if it is ok to mount the cloned snapshot volumes to the same Exchange server. Will it cause any problems as the disk signatures are the same since they were cloned from the production volumes? Or I need to mount the snapshot volumes to a different server then copy the files to the Exchange server? Thanks.

Hi Jason,

Yes you can mount back to the same server. Windows will rewrite the disk signature when it detects a duplicate of the production volume. Windows will mark the volume as readonly and hidden so you will need to clear these attributes using diskpart from a command prompt if you intend to write anything to the volume.

Jason
