topic Old CS300 setup problem in Array Setup and Networking

I have an old Nimble CS300 and need to use the Nimble Setup Manager to configure it. The problem is that I cannot download this from Infosight as the machine is no longer in support and the web interface reports the serial number as invalid (due to the age). I have tried support and they simply say it is out of support and to contact sales. Sales as yet have not responded to my requests. Does anyone have any suggestions or pointers for me please.

Kind regards

Peter

Hi @PeterAtkins
Unfortunately, the CS300 cannot be initialized without the Nimble Setup Manager. This tool is part of the HPE Windows Toolkit, and it can only be downloaded from HPE InfoSight for arrays with an active support contract. Since the CS300 reached end of support several years ago, support team will not be able to assist.

That said, depending on the state of your array, there are a couple of things worth trying:

Serial Console Setup -- If you have a serial cable (DB9/RJ45 console cable), you can connect directly to the array's serial console port and perform the initial network configuration from the CLI. Once the management IP is set, you should be able to access the NimbleOS GUI from a web browser. This is based on the assumption that the array was not re-imaged and a re-setup was not initiated in the past. Serail console setting is as below
115200 8/N/1
Data bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop bits: 1
Speed: 115.2Kbps (115200 BAUD)
Flow Control: None

Check for an Existing Management IP -- If the array was previously configured, it may already have a management IP assigned. Try connecting it to your network and checking your DHCP server, or scan your subnet for the array's MAC address (labeled on the back of the chassis).
