Nimble controller issue

Hi All,

I have a old Nimble storage test setup and the same is not with Nimble support.

Model CS3000 ES2-H21T

It has 2 controllers.

Controller A

Controller B

Controller A had boot loop issue and the failover did not happen automaticaly to Controller B.

Controller B IP ping works but no SSH.

I replaced the Controller A with new controller A.

Please help how to fix the issue?

I can do configuration from the scratch.

Could you please help to format and configure the controllers from the scratch?

Hello @Manivel010101,

Look into these steps:

1. Connect to the controllers
Use a console cable to connect directly to each controller.
Turn them on and wait for the setup prompts.

2. Reset controllers if needed
If the controllers are not in a clean state, you can reset them to factory settings:
Power off the controller.
Power it back on and press the reset button.
Follow the instructions to reset it.

3. Set up Controller A (the new one)
Connect via console.
Power it on.
Follow the prompts to give it an IP address, subnet, gateway, and DNS.

4. Set up Controller B
Do the same for Controller B (the one that’s already there but unreachable via SSH):
Connect via console.
Power it on.
Assign network settings (IP, subnet, etc.).

5. Make the two controllers work together
Use the CLI (command line interface) to set up the cluster:
Enter setup commands to name the cluster, add Controller B, and connect them.
Set passwords when asked.

6. Check everything is working
Use commands like `cluster show` to see if both controllers are online and working together.
Make sure failover is working properly, so if one controller fails, the other takes over.

7. Set up your storage
Once the controllers are connected, you can create and organize storage volumes as needed.

8. Troubleshooting SSH issues
If you can’t SSH into Controller B:
Check if it’s connected to the network.
Make sure SSH is enabled (`ssh enable` command).

No @buzzsubash,

It is asking the password to login to BIOS but no password are accepting. I dont know the BIOS password.

Also, I could not find out where is the factory reset option?

Any advise?

Hi All,
We got the bios password and logged in to this.
I have a confusion on the part.
My DC engineer logged in and he configured the impi IP address on both controllers.

Does this nimble have 2 ipmi ports?
After configuring the ipmi ip,I was able to login to ipmi via UI.

I see,the rear side.

There’s 2 rj45 connections and 2 10Gb sfp connections.

Wherre is the ipmi port?

Hi, Are you referring to support/diagnostic IPs? if yes, they will not have visible ports on the array rear.

Controller A had faulty and we replaced with new controller A.

We wanted to configure it from the scratch.
At the time of configuration,it asked bios password and my data centre engineer gave bios password and he configured IP address for both.It seems that the IP belongs to ipmi.

When I tried to access it,it goes to ipmi interface via gui.

I got confused here.
