Disk transfer rate mismatch

Hi,

Customer has MSA 2050 and all the disks are 12G transfer rate but in the SMU the disk transfer rate shows as 6G.

Can somebody please help to answer why is that so? Customer says "what is the point of having 12G drives when it runs on 6G" ?

Disk model - EH000600JWCPL

Hello,

If the disks are not being utilized, they will spin down to a slower speed. This is consistent with the SAS protocol algorythm followed by all arrays and hard drives The performance of the drive nor the array is impacted. If the drive needs to spin back up it will do so automatically.
