How to turn on Enclosure Unit Identification LED for the P2000 G3 MSA

I spent hours looking around in the SMU and online, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how do you turn on the UID LED indicator for the MSA from within the SMU?

i.e. I want to identifiy the specific storage unit on the rack being manged in the SMU by enabling the UID LED indicator on the storage unit.

set led
Description Changes the state of the identification LED on a specified disk or enclosure. For a disk this affects the
Fault/UID LED. For an enclosure this affects the UID LED. LEDs are described in the User Guide.
Syntax To set a disk LED:
set led
disk ID
enable|disable|on|off
To set an enclosure LED:
set led
enclosure ID
enable|disable|on|off
Parameters disk ID
The disk to locate.
enclosure ID
The enclosure to locate.
enable|disable|on|off
Specifies to set or unset the LED.

Example Identify disk 5 in the first enclosure:
# set led disk 1.5 on
Success: Command completed successfully. - Enabling identification LED for disk
1.5... (2012-01-21 12:23:18)
Stop identifying the first enclosure:
# set led enclosure 1 off
Success: Disabling identification LED for enclosure 1... (2012-01-21 12:24:03)

This is regarding the enclosure Unit Identifiication. Can this be done with the Storage Management Utility web?

Hi,

I dont see any options to enable enclosure UID through SMU.

Each enclosure will have an LED with enclosure numbering - 1,2,3 etc.

This could be used to identify the enclosure.

Clicking on the specific hard drive under Physical > enclosure view brings up the UID LED on individual hard drives.

Is there a way to change the Enclosure ID within the SMU? Each physical disk drive is identified easily, but I'm looking for a way to identify the enclosure as we have multiples stacked up and would be a nice if there's a way to easier way to idenify which one that you're working on.

Think I answered my own question through further research.

When drive enclosures are attached to a controller enclosure:

■The controller enclosure’s EID is zero.

■A drive enclosure’s EID is nonzero. The EID is 1 for the first drive enclosure,

and the EID is incremented for each subsequent enclosure.

■EIDs are persistent, so will not change during simple reconfigurations.

■EIDs can be used to correlate physical enclosures with logical views of the

storage system provided by system interfaces such as SMU.
