MSA 2040 Compatibility Question

I have two ESXi hosts running VMware 6.7 (HP ProLiant DL360 Gen 9) and an MSA 2040 for storage. The two are connected with a dual 8gb fibre channel (Emulex 82E).

Through a series of upgrades, for VMware and firmware, we are having some issues with transferring large files. We know the issue is with the MSA 2040 but not sure if it is the hard drives or the fiber ports. HPE is now telling us that the MSA 2040 is not compatible with VMware 6.7.

Anyone here running a similar setup without any issues? Also, if we do need to get a new SAN, is the Dell EMC a better option in regards to performance and customer support? At this point, I despise HP and I hope I never have to buy another HPE product.

I've several DL380 Gen9 with severals MSA 2040 and 2050, ESXi and vCenter 6.7 too.

I use to transfer 16To of data and VM files between two sites without any problem. One specific VM is a 9To file.

So no trouble from my side. Did you check vCenter logs? How do you move your datas?

Sorry for your difficult support experience.
The MSA 2040 went End of Life in December of 2017 -- https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docLocale=en_US&docId=emr_na-a00038415en_us
The product's End of Support Life is April 2023 so you should be looking at replacing the 2040.
Since the End of Life was end of life prior to ESX 6.7 initial release in April 2018 -- https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2143832 -- MSA 2040 was not qualified for use with ESX 6.7. There are no known issues working with 6.7 but then again there is little data when connected to this OS.
