Hi,

Upgrade the firmware of existing controller before replacing failed controller as new controller might come with the latest version firmware pre-installed.

If you have the firmware files downloaded, pull failed controller out by 1-2 inches, enable single controller mode and upgrade firmware of existing controller. Upgrade path - GL200 > GL220P010 > GL225P002-02. Command to enable single controller mode: set advanced-settings single-controller Note: As with any firmware upgrade data back up is recommended.

Hi team:

A question, I have a hpe msa 2040 SAN Dual Controller in which controller A failed and is working with the backup controller B. I already have the spare part to replace said controller, but when I reviewed the firmware version that is active I detected which is very old (GLS200R08-01). Can I replace the controller without problems or do I need to update first?

Regards,

In this case, I do not have access to the old firmware therefore I could not do what you mention.

Hi Jorge,

Direct upgrade of the firmware to the latest version might not succeed. You may log an HPE support case to check for options.

I believe that you would have already tried removing and reseating the failed controller to check whether it comes up.
