HPE MSA 2050 - remove disk group without loosing data

We have a HPE MSA 2050 with 2 LFF Disk Enclosures attached to it and just upgraded the HPE MSA Storage drives to 3.2 TB SSD SAS drives while the LFF Enclosures have 4TB HDDs. After creating new Disk Groups in both pools A and B, we are now looking to leverage the SSD SAS for all volumes. One of the recommendations we had internally was to delete existing (legacy LFF) disk groups which would force VDRAIN and write data (volume) to the new SSD based Disk Groups.

Please suggest if this would even work without any data loss.

Hi,

vdrain is a very slow process and might take several days or weeks to get completed. There is no way to expedite the process.

If you could take a data back up , delete /recreate the Pool with just SSDs and restore the data from back up that would be a better option as the amount of data to be migrated from archive tier hard drives to SSDs is quite huge (approx 20TB)
