Adding a diskshelf in EVA8000

Hi!

I've got a customer that needs to add a diskshelf to his EVA8000, the storage i business critical 24/7.

My question is:

Is it possible to add it online and running?

Has anyone done it?

I've searched and didnt find any "howto" regarding adding a diskshelf online...

Does this EVA8000 have loop switches?
If yes you can add the enclosure online!

In the document titled "HP StorageWorks EVA 4000/6000/8000 M5314 drive enclosure installation instructions" it states "Install and seat all disk drives and other components ...".

What if you do not have any disk drives for the new enclosure?

Will the new enclosure still show up in Command View EVA after a short period of time?

Do you need drives in it to make it work?

The reason I ask is that I am adding six new drive enclosures to my EVA8000 2C6D but after following the instructions for the first disk enclosure, it did not show up in Command View EVA. There were no errors and all lights were lit as they should be. I stopped at this point and came to the forum.

I can confirm that the process works, just make sure that you have disks installed into the new shelves prior to connecting to the original configuration otherwise they may not show up in command view.
