I have a HP SAN MSA 1000 already configured and running but the person that set this up neglected to supply the IP address of the unit. How can I check what the IP is and also how do i connect into the SAN to find out the array configuration. We have an ESX3.0 server with a windows environment attached via VMWARE.

The MSA1000 does not have IP-connectivity.
You need Array Configuration Utility to see/change the configuration, but I am not sure if ACU exists for Vmware ESX server. Accodring to vmware's SAN guide, you need to use the serial cable connection the MSA1000 controllers.
http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi3_esx_san_cfg.pdf

Regards,
Stephen
