topic MSA2012sa host can't initialize volume in MSA Storage

I have a MSA 2012sa with 3 hosts connected. I created a new volume and connected a new host running server 2008 R2 x64 and mapped the new host to the newly created volume. The host can see the volume and I get a message to initialize it but get a resource in use error. No other hosts are mapped to the volume. There are two other hosts mapped to a different volume on the same virtual disk with no issues and those other hosts are mapped to a different virtual disk with no issues.

I have MPIO installed on the new host and the latest drivers. Any suggestions?
