I'v just got on a big problem:

These are two MSA, one MSA2012i and one 2312i.

Both mainly used to provide storage for the same XenServer Pool, working as expected.

One LUN on the 2012i should now be used on a hardware-installed Server 2003.

Problem:

I cant format the exported LUN, Diskmanagement takes some time and then gives me a screen saying the operation ran into a timeout.

What i have tried:

- Recreate Volume and Virtual Disk: Same Problem

- Change Volume Size from 2TB to 50GB: Same Problem

- Use another Server 2003: Same Problem

- Attach same LUN to Server 2008: Working, Format okay but can't use / attach Drive Letter after reattaching to 2003

- Attach LUN to XenServer: Working

- Attach Volume from MSA2312i: Same Problem...

MSA Drivers and iSCSI Initiator Versions are up2date.

I don't know how to get it solved, any ideas?

2 things to check:

- is the host profile set to windows?

- did you use quickformat instead of format?

Sorry, no host profile for iSCSI, I looked into the FC model.

However, what firmware is running? Version J212P01?

Try to connect to CLI and run

> show versions

I had a similar problem with an FC SAN a few years ago with Windows 2003.

The solution turned out to be a re-install of SP2 for Windows 2003.

Thanks,

Mark...
