I've had an issue with this in the past, someone set the default admin password to something else, and promplty forgot it. What we actually did was put the "forgotten" controllers in another P2000G3 with default settings still intact, and once the controllers become paired you can set/reset the credentials that way. Obviously this method won't work for everyone though, not everyone has an extra P2000G3 lying around.

I'm trying to reset a P2000 G3 controller to factory defaults. I don't know the login/pass.

I connected the mini-usb cli cable but the cli does not accept the default passwords.

admin/!admin

manage/!manage

Is there another way to reset this controller?

This worked.

I took one controller out of a working P2000, put the concerned controller in the free spot.

Partner firmware update automatically starts. After resynch the passwords are reset.

Thank you very much !

There is still another way to reset the password, ask HP support for help and they can tell you.

Glad to be of help! I'm curious what the HP alternate method consists of, whether you need an active support contract in order for HP to tell you the method, etc. Next time I have an issue maybe I'll call them up and try my luck :)

Let's say it is based on creating special password for a special account based on specific hardware information (not the admin account ;-) )

At first it didn't work for me, because when you enter this command on restoredefaults ... one controller remains with the old memory .. and, accordingly, after the reboot everything will be synchronized again .., then you pull one out to hot .. on the second you reset through the miniUSB cable with a terminal in this way ... you enter the terminal with the default password ... insert the first one back ... but it will synchronize again with the old passwords, but you are already in the terminal as an administrator ... and then you change it to him to your password with the set password manage command)
