Hi All,

I'm still newbie in storage area. i have storage enclosure P2000 G3 existing ( Storage_Controller_Rear.png attached). On the next week, i want to add one enclosure expansion - HP D2700 Disk Enclosure (AJ941A) include 6 disk HP MSA 600 GB SAS 10K 2.5in (C8S58A). My Questions are :

Please guide me how to connect this enclosure controller (existing) with a new enclosure expansion (New Additional Enclosure HP D2700 AJ941A), especially in SAS cabling layout from rear side.
This storage existing contains storage datastore vmware. do i have to take this storage offline first or i can do this by online ? if this task need to be offline first, i will take vmware esx server down first and then i will connect this additonal enclosure expansion.
Do i need update the firmware before add this expansion enclosure ? (Storage_Controller_Firmware_Existing.png attached)

anyway the operation is online does not iterfere with production just work carefully.

first install the new enlosure and power it up. then connect the SAS cables one by one. after that you will see the new enclure in the GUI. then define VDISKS and volums and mapping (the default mapping is all hosts see the volume).

as for the firmware check documentation I have heard the latest HP firmware TS251006P-02 is with problems it is not advised to upgrade to that firmware.

after you finish adding the enclosure you can expand your existing VDISK but you can not have more than 16 disks in a VDISK
