How do you Initialize RDX Media

I have an external 500GB drive with two media. One of the media was originally working. Due to problems we uninstalled and re-installed the drive. Now when you try to use the media that was previously used, you get the error "Failed to initialize Media" insert new media. Could use a good valid suggestion :)
