As far as I can tell, using the HP LTT, compression is not enabled on the Ultrium drives. It isn't obvious to me, but I would have figured either via the front of the library or HP LTT. You have to specifically turn it off. This is done by the ISV application or building a device file specifically for this in UNIX. There are no hardware controls to turn it off.<BR /> The data compression in Ultrium is ALDC which stop compression if data is already compressed or very random.
