DLT 718 admin password reset

Does anyone know how to remove or reset the admin password if it has been forgotten? We moved to a new site and now the unit asks for a password for any of the admin functions.

Hi James,

Page 2-18 of the DLT 718 user's guide states:
"Be sure you document a new password and keep it safe. If you forget the password, only a service representative can restore the default password."

I'm fairly sure the password will go back to default (000 000 000) if you download (or re-download) the firmware.

You can use HP Library & Tape Tools (www.hp.com/support/tapetools) to do this.

The current firmware is 2.12.

Turn off the power. Hold in the Enter and Next buttons and turn the power on. Continue holding until the drive goes past the self test and gets to the inventory check. The password will be reset to 000 000 000. Hope this helps.
