The BIOS for the E60 has not been updated in some time. I know a lot of people have been having problems with IDE HDD in this server. That's because it was specificaly designed for SCSI disks not IDE and I would highly recoomend using SCSI drives. You will get spotty performance and my run into issues with IDE HDD. The IDE controller is just for peripherals.

Hope this helps.

Hi!
I tried to mount an IDE HDD for backup issues in a Netserver E60.
The problem is that the HDD is recognized as 120GB, not with its real size (500GB). Is there a possibility to update the BIOS to get this drive to work or shoult I install a seperate IDE controller which can handle large drives?

Kind regards,
Thank you for the reply. The performance of the IDE Drive is not an issue - it's used for backup copies only.
If I install a seperate IDE controller which supports large drives, will this work for the E60?
Regards,
Peter
