iLO Installation Error

Whenever I try to install HP Proliant Integrated Lights-Out I received the following error message:

NTVDM: Encountered a Hard Error.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this error keeps popping up?

Hello Stuart

Some how your 16bit apps are not allowed to run in your server. Your OS is the one creating problem not iLO, having a look at this KB would help.

Also do this

From the desktop, right-click My Computer and select Properties.

Select the Advanced tab and click Environment Variables.

Edit the TEMP and TMP user variables to have values of ???c:\temp??? as shown in the attached screen shot.

Make sure that the ???c:\temp??? folder exists. Create this folder if it does not already exist

I checked with 2003 it works.

Yes, I knew it was the OS, as found various web pages tlaking about a similar issue with other software but couldn't find anything linked to iLO.

Thanks for the information. I shall give what you have suggested a try and come back to you with my results.

I have tried all that you suggest, but none seem to resolve the problem, would there be any entries in the registry that would be causing this error?
