Hi ,

Please can you guys help me.
i have been trying to install win sbs 2003 on this ml150 that i just bought, and it fails after the operting system copies the files in the first part of the installation.

as soon as it re-boots, it does the post tests, and stops at "error loading operating system"

Funny thing is if i install vista on this machine it works great.

I'm thinking it may need a bios upgrade, but i cant find the correct instructions on how to do this from dos .

Please can you assist, and let me know if i am on the right path.

Thank you,
I have found the solution, but it puzzles me why HP would allow this.

I had to upgrade the bios, as that bios was not compatable with winsbs2003. Surely there are many ppl that still prefer to use win2003sbs ? shouldn't HP build the server with the already updated bios that can at least accomodate for such a widely used OS.

and by the way, i had to install vista, then ugrade the bios, because its a windows application, not a dos app....thanks HP.

Cheers.

If you did get an HP SmartStart set along with the ML150 server, it should have had the bios update that could install before a windows install. However, you did solve your problem, so this is an option for next time.
