Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller - Proliant Microserver Gen8

Hi folks,

I recently bought a Proliant Microserver Gen8 and I get an error message in the Device Manager. I am unable to update the driver (or otherwise solve the problem).

Any suggestions or help would be gratefully received.

HI:

Did you install your OS with HP "Intelligent Provisioning" ? If so,there may not be such problem.

You can try this:

1、Update your systemboard BIOS first.

2、Download the latest drivers from HP Support Center and reinstall.You can also use HP Smart Update Manager.

3、If it doesn't work,try to contact HP Call Center,there may be a hardware problem.

Hi,

Not sure what OS you have installed, but do visit hp drivers page and choose the OS and you should download the following driver(s) "USB Host Controller Identifier" or "Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Drivers for Windows Server" depending on the OS.

(I should have added I am a complete novice at this, so please bear with me)

I am using Windows 2008 OS. I did install using Intelligent Provisioning (but cannot rule out that I may easily have screwed something up in the process).

I will play around with it this evening & see if I can do what you recommend in point 1 & 2. Worst case scenario, I will contact the HP call centre.

Again, thank you for replying quickly. As mentioned to wanman, I am a complete novice. I bought this Microserver, hoping/assuming it would be doable for someone of limited knowledge. Realising I was wrong, but not ready to give up just yet.

I contacted a product manager in HP, to ask for advice on "no you have set it up, what can I use it for" but really didn't get any useful advice. What I would like is an "Idiots guide to home servers", but after a bit of surfing, still as lost as ever. Worst case scenario, it will be my chunky pc, though I know it could be used for so much more......

enough venting!

when I click on the drivers link, may I ask how I can get to select the drivers you mention below (OS is windows)?

You may also get the current SPP from here

start HP SUM in

hp\swpackages\hpsum.exe

and install all you need.
