Also, how exactly were you attempting to find a bad disk by disconnecting the array controller? One last thing, if the drive cage lock is stuck, you will have to remove the drive cage in order to remove the locking mechanism. I have diconnected the array controllers to try to figure out which disk is bad by a process of elimination, but to no avail.
