I think this error might mean you have a problem with a hard drive. I think the "0/0/0" might be Channel 0, ID 0, LUN 0.

How many hard drives do you have attached to this SCSI adapter? Will the server boot to other media such as a floppy or CD? Have you tried inserting another hard drive?

When you say the "server won't boot," do you mean you don't see any POST information, or do you mean that the operating system doesn't start? If you do see POST info, how far in POST does it go? Does the SCSI controller banner during POST or does it hang on the SCSI controller?

Do you get any errors during POST or does the failure to load the OS end in an error?

Alicia

Hi,
It's a netserver lt6000r
Display screen on the front of the server has an event log. Seems to be a hardware failure related to the scsi adapter but I was hoping to get more details.

Hi Ray,

If the server is not booting, download the dos version hardware event log from this link

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?locale=en_US〈=English&pnameOID=19837&prodSeriesId=50459&prodTypeId=15351&basePartNum=COL3415&locBasepartNum=ns-11635-1&os=Cross+OS&tech=Utility

Download it to your desk top and by double clicking the downloaded OLV>EXE file you should be able to creat a bootable floppy diskett

Reboot the machine from that floppy diskett and check the hardware event log from there

Let us know if you got any issues regarding your SCSI adapter or anything elase

Regards
Amha Kassa

Hi Ray,

Do you mean you are getting no video?

A. Connect the server to a known good moniter.

B.Open the server and clear the CMOS as follows
(If you have any Custom BIOS setting take a note of it to make sure it is the same after you cleared the CMOS)
1. Power down the HP NetServer open the box and gain access to the system board
2. On the system board, set switch 5 of the configuration switch from OFF to ON.

(The configuration switches are located on the lower left of the system board of the system board assembly. To change the switch settings, it is recommended that the system board assembly be removed from the chassis.)

3. Power up the HP NetServer.

4.A message on the screen will appear stating to "set the clear configuration switch to the OFF position before rebooting."

5. Shut down the HP NetServer.

6. Set switch 5 from ON to OFF on the system board's configuration switch.

7. Reboot the HP Netserver. During the POST, press F2 to enter Setup and Save Default settings(F9) and exit(F10) (If you had custome settings make sure the current BIOS setting matchs with your Custome settings)

8. Replace the cover and power up the HP Netserver.

If this helps good, other wise if you have any new devices added in the system remove that and try to boot again and see if that is causing the pproblem

Do all this and let us know the result

Regards
Amha Kassa
