Hi Guys

I have a few E60's as remote site servers and I need to add an 80GB IDE disk to them.

However the techs that are installing the disks are say that they are on the latest BIOS and it will still only see 8.4GB of the disk.

Now I know it works as I have had an E60 with a pair of 20GB disks work fine, so my question is what do I need to do to enable the machine to see all 80GB?

You should update your bios to the latest dated 10/22/2001 (0.22 version)
javascript:openExternal ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software1/ns1364/ns1364en/e200_bios_022.exe

Sorry Michael, I have sent you a link to the E200 bios update, not to the E60 server, but the answer is the same, try to update your bios

Michael,

The problem may also stem from the OS. If your running Windows 2000 Server or 2003, you should be fine.

There may also be a limitation of disk size with this server. I know it exists for SCSI drives, but you should check the IDE limitation as well.

Thanks for the replys guys.

I have checked this out myself and while it shows 8.4GB in the BIOS the full drive is available in the OS.

Problem solved. :)

In the end it turned out to be a display issue.

The BIOS will show a much smaller disk but Windows will see the whole disk size.

I would assume that the limit is 137GB.
