I'm getting the following message in COMPAQ Insight Manager: "OST Error: 1792-Drive Array Reports Valid Data Found in Array Accelerator". Shortly after that I'm seeing the following messages in the system log:

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: Server Agents
Event Category: Events
Event ID: 1123
Date: 6/28/2004
Time: 8:00:02 AM
User: N/A
Computer: INFO20
Description:
System Information Agent: Health: Post Errors were detected. One or more Power-On-Self-Test errors were detected during server startup.

Customer unable to get into their Cold Fusion application. Noticed that the Cold Fusion MX Service was not running. Unable to start Cold Fusion MX service so I had to reboot server.

Noticed the following error message in System Log:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7024
Date: 6/28/2004
Time: 8:00:10 AM
User: N/A
Computer: INFO20
Description:
The ColdFusion MX Application Server service terminated with service-specific error 2.

Shortly after this my system will get very sluggish and Cold Fusion will crash. I want to rule out a hardware problem. Has anyone ever my first Post error message: "OST Error: 1792-Drive Array Reports Valid Data Found in Array Accelerator"?

Richard:

1792 reports that a power failure occured and that data was found in the controller.
I would think that there might have been data corruption because of a power failure; not the controller.

If I had a power failure, wouldn't I have seen something in the event log about a power supply going? This server is protected by our computer room's UPS.

Hmmm... Yeah, you should see the "computer restarted after unexpected shutdown" mesaage prior to that in the Event Log.

So... some amount of data was not properly written out of the cache prior to a "gracefull shutdown". The expected opperation would be that the controller would try to write the data it found in the cache to the disk at the next power on. (Unless you were powered down for more than three consecutive days) The batteries should be able to hold the cache data for at least that long.
Possibly you have a controller on the way out... but (if you have the time) you will not know unless you put it through some diagnostics.
HP Array Diagnostics:
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/20061.html
HP Insight Diagnostics:
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/20080.html

John ... thanks! I'm going to download both diagnostics and run them to see what I come up with on this server. This has been going on now for quite sometime. I just had our hardware technician swap out the controller from a different machine. I certainly could have 2 controllers going bad ... what are the chances of that though. Anyway ... I'm going to download these 2 files as you recommended and I'll let you know what I find out.

Check the obvious stuff: You have the latest bios on the server and on the controller? You have a good install of the latest drivers?

btw... you never said what controller.

SMART-2DH Controller. I did a BIOS upgrade and flashed the array as well. I will go out and once again try this ... just in case I missed something. Will do so before I run the diagnostics.

Wow... 2DH Controller. Those batteries could be a bit old... that could be the source of the errors.
