We have a cluster with 7 nodes and 3 are used for the CLDB.

When I define MAPR_EXTERNAL in env_override.sh for the CLDB nodes leaving no entry for the other nodes, then the MCS is reachable but our client code doesn't work because the CLDB is returning a private IP for a service.

If I define MAPR_EXTERNAL in env_override.sh for all 7 nodes then the client code works fine. But when I try to go to the MCS I get this

Literally the only change is defining MAPR_EXTERNAL in /opt/mapr/conf/env_override.sh for the four non-CLDB nodes.

Any ideas would be welcome.

thanks,

Tim

Dave,

You cracked it! I literally have been struggling with this for weeks. MCS would only come up when I defined MAPR_EXTERNAL for the CLDB nodes. But the error message from my client would spit out a private IP of a non-CLDB node. But thanks to you I now define MAPR_EXTERNAL for all nodes and the maprDB client works with no problem.

Thank you!

Tim

Tim,

Glad it fixed your problem. If you run into any other issues, it's always worth a quick search of the knowledge articles on support.hpe.com just in case someone else ran into the same issue and we documented the solution.

Regards,

Dave

Dave,

You're so right. I realize now that the support pages aren't indexed by google and so I'll have to add it to my places to check. I made a related post in July and put your answer there too so they'll turn up in a google search since the community forum pages are indexed by google.

Thanks again for your help

regards,

Tim
